Part I : Getting Free Hits Using These Simple Tips & Tricks
Search Engine Optimization
Search engines still remain the #1 tool to generate free targeted traffic to any website, so make sure that your site is indexed in every major search engine. Do a through check of all the meta tags and make sure you are not missing any one. The most important meta tag is the "Title" tag which should be kept short and sweet. Then there comes the "Description" and the "Keywords" tags, please make sure that you are not dumping keywords on this tag which do not belong to your website. e.g. don't include keywords for selling perfumes when you are selling books. Make sure that the description and the keywords are relevant to your website. Another major things that no one would tell you is that you MUST have the keywords and description embedded on your site to get a high rank in search engine. What I mean by this is, if you keywords include "Candy, Gum, Lollypop" etc.. and description is "We sell all types of chocolates and candy here" etc. them you MUST ...

Linking Strategies That Bring Results
Website link popularity is used to indicate how many other web pages link to your web page. It is calculated by counting the number of web pages that contain your link, also known as inbound links.
Proper website linking strategies can help you gain inbound links which in turn can greatly improve your search engine ranking. For this reason, it's wise to maintain link popularity strategies as part of your overall search engine optimization efforts.
There are several linking techniques and strategies used to obtain inbound links. Here are a few popular strategies that just may bring you the results you need:
1. Reciprocal linking
This strategy involves exchanging links with other sites. You put their link on your site, they put your link on theirs. Probably the most common linking strategy, but there are a few do's and don'ts to keep in mind:
- Link only to sites that have a page rank. It's my preference to link to sites that have a page rank of 4 or bett ...

The Ecommerce Business Plan
Simply put, business plans can make or break your business. Starting a Drop Ship business online is no different from starting a traditional non-online business. With the strong emphasis individuals place on writing business plans for starting up non-internet-based companies, it is equally crucial to prepare a business plan for your online business.
A business plan serves many important purposes for the online business. First, because the business plan has a detailed list of the tasks to undertake, it is a call to action for you to promote your business actively and not procrastinate on your marketing efforts. Second, it provides a blueprint that describes your company effectively: the market, the products and the steps you need for effective marketing. This serves to guide your business through the months ahead.
Business plans normally comprise of five sections:
1) The Objectives. This section will describe the objectives for the venture, and the mission statement ...

CSS a Great Optimization Tool
What is CSS? CSS stands for Cascading Style Sheets. It is a webdesign language that is used to increase the look and feel of your website. It can be of great use when you are optimizing your website for search engines. Search Engines go through your website as fast as they can. So usually its better to have less code and more content. CSS allows you to use simple tags in your code and have high effects. There are three forms of CSS. They are: - Inline - Embeded - External
Inline ------ Inline CSS is used in the body of your webpage. Inline CSS is good to use to disallow the effect of External or Embeded CSS. I don't recommend using a lot of inline CSS but it comes in handy sometimes.
Example:
Using Inline CSS
CSS is a very simple tool to implement to any ...

Easy Link Exchange
An Introduction to Link Exchange
Initially, when the internet was in its infancy, webmasters used links as a way to complement the content of their website and to help their visitors find information. As the importance of links increased, the focus shifted away from helping the visitor to helping the webmaster.
This came about as a result of the Grandaddy of all search engines Google begun to implement its concept of “Page Rank” to classify websites in terms of their importance and perceived authority. Essentially Google defined links from any given website as a vote or endorsement of the site pointed to - the more significant the originating site, the more significant the endorsement. This in turn affects search engine results position as Google’s ranking algorithm gives significant weighting to this ratio.
To webmasters in search of ever more traffic, Page Rank or “PR” thus became an all important factor in choosing link partners, with the original purpose for li ...

Linking for Traffic not Positioning!
With more and more experts and search engine enthusiasts
claiming the right way and the wrong way to handle link
swapping, link exchanging or reciprocal linking!
You can tell something is important when there is more than
one name for it! GRIN!
There are also two schools of thought on the reasons link
swapping.
The first reason for link swapping has always been to carry
favour with Search engine rankings. Have a good site with
lots of links and this is seen as a good thing and
therefore Search Engines will rank you higher.
Sadly, like all things in life, this system can be abused
and taken to the extreme. Sites are buying in hundreds if
not thousands of links trying to "boost" their ranking
artificially. This is fine in the short term but we are
starting to see a fundamental shift in Search Engine
algorhythms.
My last article of link swapping , If Content is King, then
surely relevance is Queen! explains my persona ...

Linking for Fun and Profit
Well actually, linking isn't fun at all. In fact, it's quite tedious. Seeking, responding to requests and adding links takes time and effort. But, if you're not actively building links the RIGHT way you are going to be left behind. In other words, your site will be "Lost in Cyberspace". The plain fact is Google, and to a lesser extent, other important search engines, reward sites with links from relevant and important pages.
If you want your site to deliver lots of targeted search engine traffic (and who doesn't?) there are two equally important factors:
1) lots of keyword-rich, search engine friendly content
2) lots of relevant, incoming links from the RIGHT sources
For real success you need to cover BOTH of these strategies. Don't concentrate on one and not the other.
So, how do you go about building your links? It's not rocket science, but as I said, it does take time and effort. From my own experiences, here's what you should do:
1) Download and ...

Why Some Experts Are Completely Wrong About Linking
Why Some Experts Are Completely Wrong About Linking And How You Can Get Your Website Marketing Back on Track! (Free Software Included)
If you have read some information about reciprocal linking and other linking tactics in order to better promote your website, you have probably found some seriously differing opinions as to what the purpose of linking is.
There are a wide range of articles and books about linking that come from polar opposite views as to why and how you should conduct a linking promotion campaign.
Most people, to this day, think that linking is solely for search engine results and link popularity as it is defined by Google. In fact, that is the sole reason thousands and thousands of webmasters exchange links.
They think it is for "pagerank" and link popularity as a boost to search engine rankings.

Complementary-Relational Linking and How It Could Save Your Internet Business
The concept of linking is that sites with common interests should link to drive more traffic to each other's businesses and to increase their "popularity." Search engines, such as Google, give much higher ranking to sites with high popularity. They feel that when many sites are linking to yours, it's a sign of ranking value.
The standard linking philosophy of most websites is to have a "links page" that piles all the link partners into one common pool, without any indexing. That type of link will only help you with SE ranking but not sales.
Next up the ladder is the links page that's indexed, making your website easier to find. A much better solution if you must have a links page.
Of course, the best link in the world is when your partner puts you on his home page. I tell you, it's enough to make any Net Marketer go into involuntary spasms! However, the chances of that scenario are slim to none!
That's not to say there isn't a middle ground between the above ...

Linking Out is Good
Many websites I come across don't have a single link to another website. Ask the webmaster why not, and the answer you get is simple enough: "If I link to other websites people might leave my site." At this point I break the news that site visitors will leave your site. And there's nothing you can do about this.
Site visitors won't leave your site because you provide links to external sites. They'll leave for one of two reasons:
- They've found what they were looking for and no longer have a reason to stay on your website
- They can't find the information they're looking for and leave to seek it elsewhere
"OK, so site visitors are going to leave my site. But why should I hunt around for websites to link to?" I can think of four reasons why linking out is good for you and will ultimately increase traffic to your website:
Proof there's a real organisation behind the website
One of the best ways to prove your organisation really exists is to link to ...

The Reality of Linking
On a regular basis I receive e-mail through all my various sites from other site owners offering to exchange links. Most approach me in the wrong manner and I can tell they have no idea about the proper way to run an effective linking program. See, in a real linking program, it isn't just about you - it should be about both sites involved in the process.
So many of these notices are not from complimentary sites in topic or design - some are actually competitors making me wonder why they would think I would link to them. Many having absolutely nothing even remotely similar to the site of mine that they have e-mailed. If they state they have already linked to my site, which is what you want to do when building a valuable link directory - not a link farm - the majority of these requests are immediately responded to asking their link to my site be removed. I know I do not want to have one of my sites "in bed" with another site that can have a detrimental effect on either my rankin ...

Using Keyword Phrases in Linking Text
Often simple things really matter. And the use of keywords in linking text is one of those simple things that turn out to be hugely important. Linking text, sometimes called anchor text is the clickable text that takes people to another page or resource. You need to choose that text carefully.
On the home page of Linking Matters, I refer people to the latest edition of this newsletter. I could use the linking text, Latest Newsletter: the text is meaningful, clear and wouldn't need to change every time I published a new issue.
However, I'd be missing out on some important opportunities. Using the actual title of the newsletter - Keyword Phrases in Linking Text is a much better option.
There are two reasons:
* Keyword rich text is more attractive to humans. A casual reader may see 'Latest Newsletter' and say so what? By using the title 'Keyword Phrases in Linking Text' I've told the visitor what the article is about and offered two hooks that they ...

Power Publishing on Your Own Site
The basic idea is simply to create lots of pages on your site(s) and embed links pointing back to your most important target pages. This works because a link pointing at a page on your site -- your home page, for instance -- enhances that page whether it is coming from outside or inside your site.
Think about how this might work if you had one or two secondary or support sites. Build some content on Sites B and C pointing back to pages on Site A. Isn't that a lot easier (and much more powerful) than wasting time asking anonymous webmasters for links on their spammy link pages?
Create big batches of content pages

Reciprocal Linking
Do not pay anyone or any service to submit your website to major search engines.
They will just enter your site using software designed to do this, which is something you can do for yourself. This type of software is rather inexpensive; in fact many hosting services include this service.
Better yet, exchange links with other websites. Search engines ‘rank’ your site according to the number of hits it gets. You can improve your ranking by having your website URL posted on others.
When another website that has your URL on it is ‘spidered’ by a search engine, it will pick-up your site as well. If this other site has a high ranking, so will yours.
There are many methods to do this. One is reciprocal linking;
Go to a search engine and find websites that are similar to yours. Locate the email for the site’s webmaster and send them an email, asking them if they would be willing to exchange links.
Set-up a separate page on your website to post the links o ...

Deep Linking Strategy for Content Sites

Here's the bad news: HOW It Works Has Changed!
The good thing is you are going to pick up a linking tip today that will put you light years ahead of most webmasters who think a reciprocal link directory is all you need to gain link popularity in Google and traffic from other sites.
Link directories are still ok, but the key is moderation. Directories with thousands of links are a dark ages website promotion tactic.

Linking for Traffic: The Shift from Link Directories to Hyper-Targeted Linking
There's a stiff wind blowing in a new direction on the web. And you'd benefit from taking the time to notice the direction its headed.
Website owners are clamoring for "holy grail" hyper targeted (relevant) links from sites with a lot of traffic and high pagerank. More than ever, we are all looking for fewer links to our sites, but much more powerful links.
Another trend to watch and certainly implement on your site is getting the links out of your link directory and onto the content pages of your site.
The trick here is to go through you link directory and clear it of dead wood. Certainly all links who are not reciprocating must go. Then get rid of low-traffic sites with no or very little pagerank. They are doing you no good.
Once you have whittled your directory down to a lean, mean group of links from sites that matter, contact those partners and tell them you are moving their link to a higher traffic spot on your site.
They will of course be glad to ...

Is Reciprocal Linking Dead?
There was a time when reciprocal linking was a number one priority among webmasters and SEO’s for obtaining a good search engine position, that time alas is no longer with us.
This is in no small part because webmasters are no longer dedicating as much time to link pages. Why should they spend hours and hours getting link partners and then making sure that their are linking back to them when all they have to do is spend 5 minutes joining a web ring or 20 minutes a day updating their blog or rss feed.
More and more we are using other methods to get sites linking to us, such as joining web rings, or on placing keyword rich text ads placed on carefully selected forums or interest sites. These bring us the keyword relevancy weight we crave so much as well as targeting the people who actually have an interest in the product or idea we are marketing.
With the introduction of such tools as rss and blogs there has come a change in the way we develop our sites to obtain a g ...

Cooperative Reciprocal Linking Networks - A Critical Analysis
Every webmaster who has personally tried promoting his or her site understands in some sense the value of reciprocal linking. Reciprocal linking refers to the agreement between website owners to mutually link to each others’ sites in order to increase both exposure to each others’ visitors as well as link popularity to search engines. Traditionally, this process has been very labor-intensive involving a number of steps to initiate contact, establish acceptable link parameters, and verify and police the reciprocal linking arrangement. Now, a controversial new linking tactic has emerged called “the cooperative reciprocal linking network.”
The purpose of these reciprocal linking networks is ostensibly to utilize "unused advertising space available on the web." Here's how it works: the site owner puts a bit of code on each page of his or her site and it serves up hyper-linked text or graphic ads promoting the sites of other cooperative members. Each time a coded page is loaded, th ...

No Follow Illustrates Need For Good Linking Plan
The blog explosion created a great opportunity for savvy marketers--they could post their URL's in the comments of blogs and reap the benefits of links back to their sites as the search engines crawled through.
Some undertook blog-marketing responsibly. They found blogs legitimately related to their sites and offered insightful, relevant commentary on issues. In exchange for adding to discussion, they were rewarded with a link.
Others found more nefarious ways to take advantage of the link opportunity, and "blog spam" became a concern. Comment sections of blogs were bombarded with URL's that were not even tangentially related to their content. Incidents became increasingly common and obvious.
Google and the other major search engines determined this blog spam was undermining their efforts to create search engine rankings that accurately reflected the quality and utility of web sites.
And now, as a result, we have the "nofollow" tag. Inclusion of the tag tells ...

It's one thing to say what you want, to choose projects that will get you what you want, and set goals that will achieve those projects. But, you still have to do the work. You still have to pay the price by just doing it.
Linking your purpose to your daily behaviors underlines the responsibility and the discipline you need to complete your projects.
Having an overall objective and doing what needs to be done gets priority. You can make your choices about what you are doing consciously, knowing that every little bit helps.

Rethinking Linking - Link Exchange Back to Basics
In the old days of the internet, links were the primary communication path between web sites. Search engines were not as sophisticated as today, and search results rather crude. Actually, even today links are reported to be more used than search engine results; but the latter are increasing their share. In a way, this began to change when Google entered the scene. In an effort to make search results more relevant, Google implemented an algoritm that judged the quality of a web site by the number of other sites linking to it. It seemed rather obvious that a popular, much linked-to, site should be of higher relevance than a site with few links pointing to it.
Unfortunately, as webmasters realized this a frantic stampede began. Everybody did whatever they could to secure as many incoming links as possible. One example: In my own field, web hosting reviews, there is a site that has (according to Yahoo) 4,000,000 incoming links pointing to it! Yes, FOUR MILLION links! By com ...

Agressive Linking Strategies Help To Get Your Site Noticed
A good link building strategy has become an essential part of search engine marketing and positioning. It has been the topic of many web conferences around the world for quite some time now.
At the recent webmaster world search conference, Bruce Clay suggested what he called aggressive linking campaigns, be instigated following a few basic guidelines. He suggested that many uneducated link builders do foolish linking into multiple domain networks, which are all hosted either on the same server, or simply buy links from a series of sites hosted within a single C block of IP addresses. Bruce advised gaining links from a wide range of IP addresses that are hosted in different places, and that this would replicate natural links that will be gained over a period of time. This guideline was given as IP address – Different is Good.
With aggressive linking it is also advisable to vary the page rank quality of those sites you want to link to you. Again making things appear natura ...

There is a way to generate links with the content that you have not as yet created. For this contact the established authorities (writers, publishers ) in your domain area & let them know that you are available as a resource for researching & writing on any topic from the chosen domain. When they will use you they will credit you for it. Also submit your articles to them. If they ever quote you they will link to you & the added advantage will be that their articles will get published in good places. Imagine an incoming link to your site from TIME or NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC.
What if you don’t have great content writing skills or the necessary expertise. Then do the next best thing. Ask for permission from writers to host their content on your site in exchange from link from it. So, if you are able to create a good selection of articles people will still link to you for a good compilation.

Don't Be A Reciprocal Linking Turkey!
I had an email exchange with an SEO client today after his webmaster called him pushing reciprocal linking software (when all this web designer was after was to generate some extra work from a client that hasn't needed him for awhile). Linking Strategies to Skyrocket to the Top of Google
If you don’t know already, one of the key success factors to getting loads of free Google traffic to your website is increasing page rank. So just how do you increase your page rank? Well, it’s all in the linking.
To be honest I never could quite figure this Google thing out, how it ranks good sites from bad sites. One day it all clicked for me and its so simple when you look at it from Google’s point of view. Google keeps its customers by providing relevant sites to your search queries. How does it choose the best sites for what you are looking for? Well, first of all it needs to be relevant (key words) and secondly it needs to be useful and of high quality. One way Google knows to measure quality is by the amount of links referring to your site. It stands to reason a site referred to by 100 websites may be more useful than a site referred by just a few right?
So how can we increase our sites chances of shooting up the search engine rankings with incoming links?

How to Market Your Web Site with Ethical Linking
Your web site's search engine rankings are determined in part by the popularity of your site. This link popularity is a function of the quality and number of other web sites that link to your site. 9 Hot Tips for Linking With Other Sites
If you have a website the chances are you receive e-mails from Webmasters asking you to make a link exchange with them. But how do you know whether you should link to their website or not? Well here are 9 rules of thumb, to help guide you through the linking maze.
1. Is their site relevant to yours?
This is key, and more and more important these days. If the answer is YES then it’s worth thinking about. If it’s off topic then you may want to think twice before swapping links. A link from a relevant website to your site is the preferred choice as it can help reinforce your website theme and potentially send some useful traffic your way.
2. How many links is too many on a links page?
When your link is being placed on another website, you ideally want that page to contain as few outbound links as possible. 15 or less outbound links is good, 150 outbound links is not so good. If there are a high number of links on a page [such as 150] then the value of each link ...

SEM has become a much sought after entity, with SEM specialists, who focus on optimization of a site, routinely adding linking campaign management to their overall repertoire of services. This has resulted in a large influx of Web sites focusing on linking campaigns and reciprocal linking as it has been established that good, solid reciprocal linking campaigns increased traffic and visitors to a site exponentially.

How To Start A Linking Campaign
Getting links to a new website, without Google page rank, can be difficult and sometimes nearly impossible. Seven Red Hot Tips for Linking
1. Vary the keywords in your link ‘anchor’ text
Unless you provide only one product or service the chances are you will want to rank for many key phrases. One way to help achieve this objective is to change the link text you want all new sites to use periodically. Vary the anchor text slightly each time and by doing so you can cover more of your targeted key phrases. This approach can help your site rank for many keywords rather than just one or two.
If you do only provide one product or service on your web site it is still important to vary anchor text. If you sell ‘blue widgets’ then you could also use link text like ‘cheap blue widgets’ or ‘blue widget store’. This means your links take on a more natural feel and are much less likely to be penalised or filtered out by search engines for being ‘fake links’.
2. Set up your link information differently - create a link in context
Typically people set up their link information in a very similar way, however you ...

Understanding What Reciprocal Linking Means
If you have been marketing on the internet for any length of time you have surely heard that reciprocal linking is a great way to boost your google page rank as well as your search engine ranking. But what does reciprocal linking actually mean?
Reciprocal linking is a joint venture of sorts between you and another website owner to exchange links on each others websites. The benefits of reciprocal linking is getting targeted traffic directed to your website and vice-a-versa. Don’t be afraid to put your competitors website on your links page, especially if they have a high Google page rank. Linking to your competitors will actually help you. For example do a search on Google for your keyword(s) and find your competitor with the number 1 ranking position, now check their links page. You will more than likely find other websites that are sending them quality traffic, as well as other potential reciprocal link partners for your website.
Will any websites link do? No! Non-rele ...

If content is king, then linking is the queen that shares his throne. We have all heard about adding content to your site to give the search engines fodder to consume. But the secret to luring the search engines is the links to your site. Today's search engines look very carefully and critically at who is linking to you, and what it is that they are saying about you. A link from a leader in your industry carries a lot of weight and means that your site is important. Two links from industry leaders means your site is even more important. 100 links from random web sites, from industries you are not even related with, means almost nothing. Thus, getting links is only the start; the important thing is getting good links from quality web sites.
Why do links matter?
Since the arrival of Google and their PageRank, search engines have put a lot of weight on links to a site. There used to be simple ways to get good rankings: Meta tags, titles, keyword density, etc… Today, things ...

Power Packed Linking Strategies - Part Three
This is the third in a series of three articles showing you how to find a suitable linking strategy for your website and put it to work for you.
Link strategy number four. The Reciprocal Link
The classic reciprocal link should be the staple diet of your linking campaign. By linking to other sites of similar interest to your visitor you provide a service and in return you get a link back to your site for your trouble. It’s a win/win situation.
There are several good software packages that can help you manage your linking campaign and I’ve listed several in the resource box at the end of this article.
Link strategy number five. The Paid Link.
For larger corporate companies and for people who simply don’t want to get involved with exchanging loads of links then it’s possible to purchase links.
Why purchase links?
There are several reasons. Firstly if you are putting a lot of time and money into a new site development then you really need good l ...

Power Packed Linking Strategies - Part Two
The keyword marketing guide to a linking strategy that packs real punching power.
This is the second in a series of three articles showing you how to find a suitable linking strategy for your website and put it to work for you.
Link strategy number one: The Front Page Link Swap.
The most important page on your site is naturally the home page and as this is the page that is most often pointed to by internal and external links this is the page that carries the most “linking power”. This is more usually called “page rank” (Google) or “Yahoo Web rank” (Yahoo).
Important note: If you are promoting an e-book, guide, tutorial or you are using a similar marketing technique then you should make your links come back to the promotional page and not your home page. As this is the page that you will want to go out and compete for you in the search engines.
The way that linking algorithms is of course a closely guarded secret, however it’s known that the more links t ...

Power Packed Linking Strategies - Part One
This is the first in a series of three articles showing you how to find a suitable linking strategy for your website and put it to work for you.
If you’ve been sitting and wondering why the traffic to your website is trickling in to your website ever so slowly then this article is intended to help you add some much needed oomph to your marketing campaign by using a linking strategy.
You may have heard that linking to other websites can benefit your website. Here are the three main reasons:
Traffic . By linking to sites with similar themes to your own you can develop a hub of traffic that will always remain constant. There’s an old saying that “a link lasts for all time” and it’s essentially true. There are short termers, shysters and hucksters that try to tilt the playing field but ultimately they are the biggest losers in the link strategy game.
Once links have been placed they generally remain for years to come, feeding your site with a steady stream of rel ...

Reciprocal Linking Techniques
Building a successful web site is a process that works best when done in a deliberate, logical step-by-step manner. The first step is to build a top quality web site that is packed with interesting and useful content.
Next, you need to submit your site to the major directories and begin a well thought out advertising campaign.
But the single most important step is getting a top ranking in the major search engines, most notably Google and MSN.
When ranking the sites in their index, Google places a very high importance on "link popularity", that is the sites that have the most high-quality incoming links generally rank higher in Google. Getting links to your site from other sites is an absolute must for a top ranking in Google and the other top search engines (top 10 at a minimum).
The question that you may be asking is "How do I get these links?". There are many ways to attain links to your web site, but it can be very difficult for new sites to get other site ...

You're Not Linking , They'Ne Cot coming!
Large companies tend to spend huge amount of money on the web. They put in so much with banner ads and did all they can not to mention a single external link on their site. They're really missing it big time.
A link is anything that mentions your web address on another. It can be a straightforward www text link, a banner or a button. It's getting hard these days to be in the top 10 on the search engines but most search engines base their position of your site on their listing by the way you appear on most sites. Well, once you give something, it will all return back to you. Why not give your link? Trade links with them and they'll will all come.
So if you're hesitant to give away links, you're missing a lot of traffic. On traditional marketing you make every effort not to mention something about your competitors, but on the web, you'll need to link to the same kind, meaning your competitors. For example, if you're on web design business like me, you would trade links wit ...

Google Patent Application – Linking
The recent patent application filed by Google details numerous items the search engine uses to rank web pages. The specific application is summarized as:
“A method for scoring a document, comprising: identifying a document; obtaining one or more types of history data associated with the document; and generating a score for the document based on the one or more types of history data.”
The patent application sheds significant light for those pursuing search engine optimization with Google. Patent applications can be difficult to understand, so following are highlights for those that don't speak lawyer.
Google’s Link Evaluation
It is well known that Google uses links as a significant ranking element. Although the patent application doesn’t dispute the value of linking, it does highlight the best method for pursuing a linking strategy. Simply put, consistently adding links will have a much better effect than adding links in bunches.

Linking Features & Benefits
I'm sure that you've had those Eureka! moments, too. When a piece of information suddenly helped you see or understand something that hadn't been apparent before.
For me, one came when I discovered means-end analysis, a marketing concept that helps us understand why listeners or readers might respond -- or not respond -- to our messages. It does this by clarifying the relationship between product features and the benefits experienced by consumers.
I also believe it has great potential for developing communication strategies.
But first, let's review the marketing connection: Consumers know about products in three general ways:
* by the attributes (features) they possess;
* by the consequences of 'consuming' those attributes; and
* by the way the consequences help satisfy personal needs.
As the list suggests, these types of knowledge are linked, providing connections among attributes, consequences, and the value-fulfillment benefits we derive ...

Should You Be Linking for Traffic or Rankings?
Just for a change, rather than a technical article, I would like to tell you a story. To begin, imagine your website is a little country bar, now let's go back to when the internet began, and reciprocal linking was being done properly. Now just sit back and picture the following.....
There you are running your bar, it's a fairly busy little bar with plenty of regular customers. You also get other customers who come from all directions. Some make their way to your bar using all the little country back roads (from links on other websites), others come on the big highway (the Internet) from the big bars in the city (The Search Engines).
Your customers usually stay and have a beer or two (read a few pages of your site), then decide they'd like to try somewhere different. Because you realize your customers are bound to leave at some point anyway, you recommend the bar down the road, telling them it is a great bar too. You even show them a little leaflet you made (your link se ...

Linking to the Best
Be picky about who will link to you; shoot and scatter does not always work.
Just having a website is not enough to get yourself noticed. You will need to do a number of things in order to have your site better known. Here are three ideas that you may want to use.
First, find another business that is a good fit for what you do, and have your information displayed on their site; you will probably also need to display their information on your site. Do not just pick any site to exchange information, make sure they have the same business values as you. I personally do not use other sites unless there is value in it for both parties.
Second, make sure you are active in newsgroups such as Yahoo Groups in your area of expertise. Newsgroups are not a place to tout your business but they are a place to give free advice and get yourself known in the process. Just make sure the group you join and the advice you give fits in with your business model.
Third, you will nee ...

Inter- Linking Articles Strategy – What You Need to Know
Webmasters have so much information available to them on the Internet about how to increase traffic to their web sites, but how do you keep visitors on the site when they get there? If you happen to use the articles format in order to provide interesting content for your readers, have you considered what they do when they finish reading one of your articles?
Actions the reader will take, will include: navigating to another part of the web site (if you are lucky and have a well designed site); typing another web site address into their browser; and, closing down their browser and doing something else – perhaps resuming their work after a lunch break. If you are a webmaster, the first of these would obviously be your preferred outcome. But a reader who randomly navigates through your pages at speed, is not the ideal. How do you not only keep a reader on your site, but also keep them engaged with your articles and possibly the products you are offering, while they finish the seco ...

Finger Eating Garage Door Reveals Breakthrough Web Design and Linking Strategy
Last Thursday afternoon I was working on a garage door and regrettably loosened the torsion spring too much. This spring is what relieves or neutralizes the weight of the garage door so the openers can work without burning out and so you don't have to be Arnold Schwarzenegger to open it.
I released the door from the opener and it began closing way too quickly. As I rushed over to try and slow it’s decent, I grabbed the handle with my left hand and was trying to grab anything with my right hand. Unfortunately, the only thing that got grabbed was my pinky finger – two knuckles up. The 1000 lb. door came crashing down so hard it broke the glass in one of its sections.
When the dust cleared and the glass had stopped clinking- I looked over to see my finger clamped firmly and squashed flatly between two sections of the heavy wooden door. I had no one around, no other neighbors were home, and I was trapped, in lots of pain, and unable to get free or lift the door (what would y ...

Link exchange, more often known as ‘Reciprocal link exchange’, is defined as the practice of exchanging links with other websites. There are innumerable methods of conducting link exchanges, the simplest of which would be advertising. Link exchanges are often made by getting the permission of a popular website owner to include a link in his links page. The aim of all those who exchange links is to increase the traffic in their sites. Benefits of link exchange The main advantage of link exchange is that link exchange improves the link popularity and in turn increases the search engine rankings. Major renowned search engines like Google and Inktomi rank pages on the basis of content as well as link popularity. It is a shame if a site is not listed in Google and those web pages that are not listed in Google are called part of the ‘Invisible web’. Link exchanges results increase traffic in a site, since Link exchange helps gain more visitors from link partners. Link exchanges can also l ...

Cross Promoting Techniques that Work
Cross promotions are not a new idea. They have been used by businesses for a very long time. For example, a real-estate company may promote a certain lawyer to close a sale, as the lawyer will promote that agency in his firm. The system is somewhat similar to the primitive barter system, where people traded items rather than using money. How can anything primitive fit into the online world of Internet marketing? Very easily. Cross promotions are, simply stated, a trade of advertising space. Instead of paying for advertising space on a site, you would place their ad on your page and yours on theirs. There are many ways to use cross promotions in your internet business that can be an effective and cost efficient way to advertise. One way is to use link exchanges. This is very effective when doing cross promotions with a company that is similar to yours, however you should be sure and never link to a page that is in direct competition with yours. One of the best things about link excha ...

Linking - This is it!
Linking – This Is It ! Well I find it time to speak again about linking as I have a couple of times in the past two years. I think I have gone the cycle and I think I have arrived. What do we want linking to do for us and what can linking actually do for us? Well we want it to get us traffic. Most of us think it can get us traffic two ways. One way we hope to get traffic is by making the search engines think we are good because of all the links to us. We are hoping that will rank us higher in those search engines. All the SEO companies want to help us be on the FIRST PAGE of Google. Well with the billions of websites now and all the keywords maxed out – can we all be on the first or second page? Of course not! So, how much does it really matter where you rank in Google? Let me give you an example provided by David Notestine from Zeus link management programming. He will provide server logs to back up stats that show: - they get 6000000 hits per month for Zeus - about 20 of those hits a ...

A Beginner's Guide to Exchanging Links
Reciprocal linking is an effective, free way to get more visitors to your website.
Exchanging links with other webmasters can help you in two ways.
Firstly, by getting your link displayed on other websites you are increasing the number of paths leading back to your your own site. This in turn will increase the number of visitors.
Secondly, exchanging links will increase the chances of getting your web page ranked more highly in the results returned by search engines.
The reason for this is that for most search engines, the number of links pointing to a site plays a huge part in determining where that site ranks. Why? Well, wouldn't you be more likely to visit a place that had been recommended to you by a friend? The same reasoning applies to search engine positioning.
A link from site A to site B is like a vote for site B. The more votes that site B gets, the higher it is regarded by search engines.
However, quantity is not everything! A lin ...

The Power of Linking
The Power of Linking
One of the first techniques and strategies that worked well
for me was linking to various websites that allow you to
place a link to your website on theirs, or want to exchange
a link.
However, don’t randomly begin linking to any old site. To
maximize the effectiveness of the link, you are going to want
the top websites the are ranked high by the search engines.
You can probably see where I am going with this. Use your
favorite search engine to type in something like Home Business
Opportunities, or Work at Home. These are sights that have
similar content to yours and are in the same category. It might
take a little time, but visit the top 40 or 50 sites and add your links.
Look for the HTML that says Add a link or Submit a link.
When you are done with that, be creative and repeat the
process but with a different search term.
If you need some help on coming up with creative search terms,

Power Linkers: "We're Everywhere YOU Want to Be!"
There is a certain credit card company that is famous for the

course your best bet is to reach every possible customer for
your product with your message, right?
But if you are not a big multi-national corporation with
millions of dollars to spend on flashy advertising, what are you

Well, the internet is where the little guys have had equal
footing with the big corporations from the beginning. Remember
the big tech company crash when thousands of over-financed
upstart internet companies went the way of the dodo? Who could

Explosive Value of Foreign Links
Explosive Value of Foreign Links
Best Linking Exposure
Do you live in a Foreign Country or speak a second language? Even if you don't, you can take advantage of this easy to implement linking tip.
Do a search on a foreign language search engine for a product very similar to your own. Then simply contact the owner of the site and ask him if he would like to exchange links with you. If you have an affiliate program attached to your product, all the better, as it will give more motivation for the link exchange.
If the site owner agrees, you have just received a valuable link exchange. 1) You are linked to the site which came up first in the foreign search engine for the same product you are offering. Chances are most of the English speakers in that country will follow your link out of interest and that could be a lot of targeted traffic. 2)You have also increased your search engine positioning with linking power.
This can really get exciting if you can exc ...
